Our history of responsible travel

More than 10 years of making a difference

We've always been crazy for travel. It's in our blood. That's why in 2008, we asked ourselves: how do we make travel a force for good? How do we make a positive impact on the wildlife, people and planet we explore? We knew we had to set an example for responsible travel. So, we're tackling our impact in two ways; through our 5-year How We Tread Right sustainability strategy and through the work of our not-for-profit organisation, the TreadRight Foundation, created in 2008.

How We Tread Right

Our 5-year How We Tread Right sustainability strategy is based on 11 measurable goals anchored to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which address the issues of climate change, sustainable food production, waste reduction, travel experiences, diversity and inclusion and wildlife.  Choose a travel company that has sustainable and responsible tourism at its heart. Our Road to Net Zero

We're excited to see people and businesses around the world working to act on climate change. To play our part, we've committed to net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050. Yeah, we're serious. You can see how we'll do this in our Climate Action Plan, which comes with short-term and long-term targets validated by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi). Alongside our sister brands, we became the first global tour operators to have SBTi-validated near-term, long-term, and net zero targets.  Want to dig deeper into our Climate Action Plan and see how we're doing?

Climate Action

We've said no to "more stuff"

Last year, we made a commitment to say goodbye to all branded merchandize we produce that's designed to be given away after discovering it produced an additional 6.5 million car-driven miles in equivalent carbon emissions. Instead, we'll be donating to nature-based solutions projects.

At The Travel Corporation (TTC), our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) journey started many years ago, with the development of our DEI strategy. Through this, we’ve formalized goals in the following areas: People & Culture, Product & Experiences, and Marketing & Communications, so you can make sure we’re doing our part.
