TRAVEL INSURANCE IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO PARTICIPATE ON OUR TRIPS

We highly recommend guests have travel insurance covering all dates of travel with Costsaver and its partners meeting the minimum levels listed below and covering: trip interruption, trip delay, emergency evacuation/repatriation, medical expenses from illness, whether individual or related to a pandemic event, such as COVID-19, and any medically-imposed quarantine such as a guest in the group contracting COVID-19 while traveling with any Travel Corporation brand.

Coverage should cover:

  • Trip Interruption: Cost of the trip including cost of flights
  • Trip Delay: $150/day, $750 total per person recommended
  • Emergency Evacuation/Repatriation: $100,000 per person recommended
  • Medical Expense: $25,000 per person recommended

Most travel insurers require you to purchase your coverage within a certain time of making your initial deposit/payment. Guests are advised to research and purchase insurance as soon as possible after making the deposit/payment.

As one convenient option, Costsaver offers Travel Protection plan, underwritten by Aon Affinity, that meet or exceed the above coverages. Availability of travel insurance and extent of coverage can change, so please refer to our website for information or contact one of our Travel Experts. If you wish to purchase Costsaver’s Travel Protection plan, you must purchase the Travel Protection Plan within 14 days of making your initial deposit/payment.

You are not required to purchase your insurance from Costsaver and are welcome to choose any travel insurance product that meets or exceeds the requirements above. If you purchase your insurance from another seller, we will ask you to provide Costsaver with information regarding your insurance policy prior to final payment being due.

No policy covers every risk. Coverages, conditions, exclusions and limitations under each policy differ. The minimum amounts listed above may not cover all your costs. You will be responsible for costs in excess of coverage amounts and for all costs if coverage does not apply. We encourage you to research your choices for a policy best suited to your circumstances.

WHAT TYPE OF TRIP CANCELLATION COVERAGE DO I HAVE?

If you need to cancel for any reason and purchased the Travel Protection Plan, you will receive reimbursement in the form of a Future Travel Certificate from your Travel Provider equal to 100% of the cancellation charges.

AM I COVERED IF I CONTRACT COVID-19?

You may be covered if you, a Traveling Companion* or a Family Member* contract COVID-19. If you contract COVID-19 after purchasing Travel Protection and are diagnosed prior to departure, the trip cancellation benefit may provide coverage if you need to cancel your trip. You will need to provide proof of sickness from your doctor and a statement that you are medically unable to travel.

If you contract COVID-19 once you’ve already started your trip, the trip interruption benefit may provide coverage if you need to interrupt your trip because you or a Traveling Companion* become sick. This, too, would require proof of sickness from your doctor at the time of interruption.

If you become sick with COVID-19 while traveling, your medical expenses may be reimbursed as well up to the benefit limits indicated in your plan.

*“Family Member” means any of the following: Your or Your Traveling Companion’s legal spouse (or common-law spouse where legal), legal guardian or ward, son or daughter (adopted, foster, step or in-law), brother or sister (includes step or in-law), parent (includes step or in-law), grandparent (includes in-law), grandchild, aunt, uncle, niece or nephew, Domestic Partner, Caregiver, or Child Caregiver.

*“Traveling Companion” means a person or persons whose names appear with Yours on the same Travel Arrangements and who, during Your Trip, will share accommodations with You in the same room, cabin, condominium unit, apartment unit or other lodging.

WHAT HAPPENS IF COVID-19 CAUSES ME TO BE QUARANTINED?

If you are Quarantined* prior to your trip, the trip cancellation benefit may reimburse you for unused pre-paid, non-refundable trip costs. If you are Quarantined during your trip, the trip interruption benefit may reimburse you for missed, unused pre-paid non-refundable trip costs and additional transportation costs to return home or catch up to your trip.

If COVID-19 causes you to be Quarantined*, delaying your trip for 12 hours or more, you may be eligible for trip delay benefits which may reimburse additional expenses for transportation, meals and accommodations, as well as missed unused pre-paid, non-refundable travel arrangements (up to the limits indicated in the plan).

In each case, you would need to provide proof from a doctor or government authority verifying your need to quarantine, as well as receipts for any expenses incurred.

*Quarantine means the enforced strict isolation and confinement of You or Your Traveling Companion at a single location, for medical reasons, pursuant to an order by an official government authority, a lawfully authorized deputy of such authority, or a licensed practicing Physician, which prevents any interaction with other persons for a specified period of time not exceeding the incubation period for a contagious disease to which You or Your Traveling Companion have been exposed. Governmental orders imposing Prohibited Access, social distancing, self-isolation that does not meet all of the requirements set forth above, shelter in place, or stay at home requirements or recommendations do not constitute a Quarantine.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM AFRAID TO TRAVEL DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS?

Fear of potentially contracting COVID-19 or fear of being Quarantined is not a covered reason to cancel your trip. However, if you have the Travel Protection Plan, you may be eligible for reimbursement in the form of a Future Travel Certificate issued by your Travel Provider for 100% of the cancellation charges.

THE AREA I AM TRAVELLING TO IN THE NEAR FUTURE HAS BEEN AFFECTED BY COVID-19. WILL I BE ABLE TO CANCEL MY TRIP AND BE REIMBURSED?

However, if you decide to cancel your trip due to a travel advisory, you may be eligible for certain coverages. If you have the Travel Protection Plan, you may be eligible for reimbursement in the form of a Future Travel Certificate issued by your Travel Provider for 100% of the cancellation charges.

DOES TRAVEL PROTECTION COVER TRIP CANCELLATION OR INTERRUPTION BECAUSE MY INTENTED DESTINATION IS SUBCJECT OF A CDC TRAVEL WARNING?

A full list of covered reasons for trip cancellation and trip interruption coverage, along with general exclusions, is found in your state-specific plan documentation.

However, if you decide to cancel your trip due to a CDC Travel Warning at your destination, you may be eligible for certain coverages. If you have the Travel Protection Plan, you may be eligible for reimbursement in the form of a Future Travel Certificate issued by your Travel provider for 100% of the cancellation changes.

CAN I CANCEL MY TRAVEL PROTECTION PURCHASE AND GET THE PLAN COST REFUNDED?

You are eligible for a refund of your plan cost during the free look period, which is 10 days from the time you purchase the plan, provided all the below conditions are met:

•You are within 10 days of plan purchase;
•You have not started your trip; and
•You have not filed a claim.

Your plan cost is not refundable after the free look period.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE AIRLINE CANCELS MY FLIGHT DUE TO COVID-19?

If your trip has begun, or if on your departure date your flight is delayed by the airline, or other common carrier, for 12 or more hours, the Travel Protection plan may reimburse travel delay expenses for items such as additional meals, accommodations and airfare.
If the airline carrier has made the decision to cancel your flight in advance of your departure date and you need to cancel your trip, there may be reimbursements available to you.
If you have the Travel Protection Plan, you may be eligible for reimbursements in the form of a Future Travel Certificate issued by your Travel Provider for 100% of the cancellation charges.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM DIAGNOSED WITH COVID-19 WHILE ON MY TRIP AND REQUIRE AN EMERGENCY EVACUATION?

You may be covered if you are diagnosed with COVID-19 while on your trip and it is determined that emergency medical transportation to a higher level of care is necessary as a result. All of the Travel Protection plans provide a maximum benefit limit of $100,000 for emergency medical evacuation. These arrangements must be coordinated and approved by the Assistance Service Provider – CareFree Travel Assistance™.

AM I COVERED IF I HAVE RECENTLY BEEN IN CONTACT WITH SOMEONE WHO TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID-19?

Contact with someone who is positive is not a covered reason for trip cancellation or trip interruption benefits UNLESS, you were placed under Quarantine* as a result of this direct contact/exposure. If you were to become sick and are diagnosed with COVID-19 by a physician and are deemed medically unable to travel, you may be covered with proper documentation.
Additionally, if you have the Travel Protection Plan, you may be eligible for reimbursement in the form of a Future Travel Certification issued by your Travel Provider for 100% of the cancellation charges.

CAN I CANCEL MY TRIP IF MY STATE AREA MANDATES A SELF-QUARANTINE PERIOD UPON RETURN FROM TRAVEL AND I CANNOT AFFOR TO MISS WORK?

However, if you have the Travel Protection Plan, you may be eligible for reimbursement in the form of a Future Travel Certification issued by your Travel Provider for 100% of the cancellation charges.

IF I AM DIAGNOSED WITH COVID-19 PRIOR TO MY SCHEDULED TRIP, HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO CANCEL AND BE COVERED FOR ANY PENALTIES I MAY INCUR?
