Our Lithuania tours show you all the top things to see in Lithuania from a chilling museum in Vilnius to the famous Hill of Crosses.
Lithuania's gorgeous capital is full of famous sights and you'll get to see them all when you visit Vilnius. Your Local Specialist will lead the charge, making stops at the 16th-century Bishop's Palace and the oldest university in the Baltics, the Gates of Dawn, the Carmelite Church of St. Theresa, and the former Jewish Quarter and ghettos.
Get to know the country’s past at the Hill of Crosses at Šiauliai, a powerful symbol of Lithuania’s fight for freedom. For centuries, Lithuanian people placed a cross on a hill in memory of passed loved ones, but when the Soviet regime banned and destroyed the crosses, the local people continued to replace the crosses on this hill in an incredible act of defiance.
Tailor the Lithuania tour of your dreams with our range of Choice Experiences. Choose from adventures like exploring the magical lakeside castle of Trakai and enjoying a traditional Lithuanian folklore show.

There's something really magical about the Trakai, the old Lithuania capital built on water. First, we saw the stunning red-brick castle on an island surrounded by the lake. It's been beautifully restored to its former grandeur and is filled with the history of the Grand Duchy. Next, we discovered the traditional wooden cottages of the Karaites, a unique ethnic group who have been living in Trakai since the 14th century, and don't forget to check out their wonderful crafts.

Gediminas Castle Tower is often taken for the symbol of the city of Vilnius and all Lithuania. Make your way along a cobbled walkway to the Upper Castle Tower and be impressed by the breathtaking panorama of Vilnius Old Town. The view stretches from a nearby Vilnelė and Neris river valleys to a new-town district in the southern part of Vilnius.

This main cobblestone pathway leads right to the Gediminas’ Castle in the Vilnius city centre. With examples of some of the best architecture in the capital of Lithuania lining the street and cafe seating spilling out over the sidewalks, Pilies Street is the perfect place to people watch over a cappuccino. Here you can also find some of the best souvenir shops in Vilnius with authentic local handicrafts.
Cepelinai are a big deal in Lithuania and you’ll soon quickly find out why. These big dumplings are stuffed with pork, potatoes, dry curd cheese or mushrooms, and smothered in a sauce made from bacon, onions and sour cream. They’re best served piping hot with more fried potatoes and hot gravy, and it will be hard to stop at just one.
In Lithuania, if you’ve got beetroot, you make borscht. This bright pink soup is one of the most popular things to eat in summer, thanks to its refreshing flavour. Plus, it’s super nutritious, made with beetroot, cucumbers, hard-boiled eggs and a cultured milk called kefir, which is like a cross between yoghurt and buttermilk.
These mouthwatering potato pancakes are a beloved Lithuanian dish. They’re made from a mix of grated potatoes, onions, eggs, flour and a squirt of lemon juice, which is then fried until crispy and golden. Top it off with sour cream, cottage cheese, applesauce, bacon, mushrooms or jam and you’re in potato heaven.
Lithuania shines in summer, with longer days and warmer temperatures that are perfect for roaming the cities and wandering the countryside.
We love visiting Lithuania’s cities in the summer months when the weather is fine, but if you want to skip the crowds visit from April to May or September to October.
Lithuania is famed for its superb birdwatching and if you want to see some up close, you're best to visit in spring or autumn from March to April or September to October.
The best time to experience Lithuania's sandy shores and pretty lakes of places like Trakai is the summer months from June to August.
