Can’t decide what to do in Estonia first? Our Estonia tours are full of bucket list wonders from the country’s national parks to Old Town of Tallinn.
A feast for the eyes and a must-see in Estonia, the Old Town of Tallinn will carry you away with UNESCO-listed architecture and ancient tales down every cobbled lane. Your Local Specialist will lead the way through the original walled arch, as you soak up all the Gothic spires, gabled houses, hidden courtyards and red-tiled cone-shaped roofs.
You can't miss the huge and beautiful Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in the Old Town of Tallinn. It was built during the reign of the Russian Empire and you can see the gold-plated domes and incredible mosaics. You might even get to hear the powerful church bells ringing. With 11 bells including one that weighs 15,000 kilograms, it makes quite an incredible sound!
Lühike Jalg (Short Leg Street) is a narrow cobbled street that leads through the Old Town. You can walk through the square-shaped gate tower at the top of Lühike Jalg and catch some gorgeous views over the city, but keep watch for ghosts! The street is thought to be haunted, with reported sightings of a monk and a floating woman in a medieval dress. Spooky!
Enjoy a tailor made holiday to Estonia with our range of Choice Experiences. Choose from adventures like visiting the historic Seaplane Harbour and enjoying afternoon tea in an 18th-century manor house.

The towers of Viru Gate are centuries-old and you'll feel the history as you walk through the gate to the most buzzing street in the Old Town. We marvelled at the ancient buildings and shopped 'til we dropped at the fantastic markets. At the end of the day, it was great to kick back with a coffee in the alfresco restaurants lining the strip. It's the perfect place for a spot of people watching!

Leave behind the churches & museums for a breath of fresh air as you visit Estonia's largest national park, Lahema the first of its kind created in the USSR. It’s an interesting mix of 7,000-year-old bogs, 18th-century manor houses, dense forest and lakes. You can even have afternoon tea & pastries in one the 18th-century Manors before discovering the treasures of this park.

This quiet little neighbourhood is eye-catching for its colourful wooden buildings. Throughout most of Tallinn’s history, Kalamaja served as the town’s main fishing harbour that has since turned into its Bohemian Quarter. It’s a must-see destination for anyone interested in architecture & history. Then visit 'Seaplane Harbour', where Charles Lindbergh landed after his first solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean.
If you like your food hot pink, you’ll love rosolje, Estonia’s beloved potato salad. It’s made from bite-sized cubes of Estonian beetroot and potatoes, tossed with smoke herring, hard-boiled eggs and pickles in a creamy, tangy dressing. This fine fuschia salad has never escaped anyone’s notice, so get in quick before it's gobbled up.
Estonia sits right on the Baltic sea, so there’s no coincidence that seafood is found in nearly every restaurant. One of the most popular kinds of fish is sprats and Estonians love to eat sprats in a sandwich. The recipe is simple - marinated sprat, boiled egg, onions, herbs and sauce between dark rye bread - but it’s absolutely delicious.
You can’t visit Estonia without tasting the famous Vana Tallinn liqueur. This rum-based beverage was first created in 1962 and the recipe has been kept a secret all these years. You can try different flavourings like cinnamon, vanilla and citrus, but be warned, the strongest version has a whopping 50% alcohol volume.
Estonia is at its best in summer with longer, warmer days, while spring and autumn bring beautiful scenery and new wildlife.
Estonia is one of the top places for birdwatching in Europe and the best time to see birds is spring when migrating species like ducks, swans and geese come home.
Sightseeing in Tallinn is at its best in summer from May to August, when the days are longer and the sun comes out to play.
Summer is best for warm weather, while spring brings pretty wildflowers and autumn brings red and golden forest leaves.
When you’re exploring Estonia’s stunning landscapes, always make sure you take only pictures and leave only footprints.
If you want to explore Estonia's countryside, you can help keep the country beautiful by always sticking to the marked paths and never disturbing the wildlife.
You’re sure to work up a thirst while exploring Estonia, so stay hydrated the eco-friendly way and bring your own reusable water bottle.
