Destination guide
In Austria, it’s not just the hills that are alive with the sound of music. We’ll show you how to follow your ears to the musical city of Vienna and charming old towns that echo with history. All your Austria tour essentials will be taken care of by us, while you create the Austria trip of your dreams as you choose from our optional experiences. Whether you explore the beautiful Alps, listen to Mozart at the opera, or feast on sweet apfelstrudel, you’ll have the freedom to lose yourself in the wonders of Austria, but always your way.
A feast for the eyes, The Old Town of Salzburg enchants with flowing fountains, pretty gardens and centuries-old church spires. Waltz through the town and take in the Baroque-style gems like Chapter Square, Salzburg Cathedral, St Markus Kirche and the Mirabell Palace Gardens.
Austria’s cuisine of juicy meat dishes and divine desserts is not for the faint hearted! We’ll show you the best places to munch on golden schnitzel and sweet sachertorte.
You haven’t had schnitzel until you’ve tried the Austrian wiener schnitzel. Tender veal coated in crunchy breadcrumbs… and they dish them up in sizes so big, they spill off your plate! Remember to loosen your belt before you tuck into this iconic dish, complete with a side of creamy potato salad.
Love a bowl of mac and cheese? Then you’ll fall head over heels for käsespätzle, Austria’s delicious answer to this family favourite. A creamy cheese sauce with spätzle, a noodle-shaped pasta made from egg, flour and salt topped with sautéed onions, käsespätzle combines to create the ultimate winter warmer.
Created in 1832 by a brilliant baker’s apprentice, sachertorte is still one of Austria’s favourite desserts. The legendary layered cake is filled with lashings of apricot jam, while the sides are coated in chocolate ganache. We like ours served with a freshly made coffee.
An outdoor lovers paradise in summer, a delight for lovers of snow and Christmas markets, Austria is the place to be all year round.
The Alps are gorgeous all year round. See the pretty blooms in spring and golden leaves in autumn, or go exploring in the countryside in summer.
December in Austria brings a magical yuletide vibe. Get your fill of Christmas spirit at the Christkindlmarkt in Vienna. Shop for handcrafted toys and feast on gingerbread and glühwein.
Long sunny days and perfect for exploring Austria in summer. They’re also great to visit in the shoulder months of spring and autumn when there are less crowds and the weather is mild.
Camera with extra storage
Somewhere between the architecture and the Alps, you’re likely to find your camera storage full. Pack an extra SD card so you can click away without a worry.
Opera outfit
Fancy a night at the opera on your Vienna trip? You’ll need to dress the part in one of Europe’s most elegant cities, so don't forget your favourite outfit for a night celebrating all things Viennese.
