A boat navigates through the Mekong Delta in Vietnam, with lush trees and plants either side of the river.

Explore the Mekong Delta in Vietnam

We sailed past idyllic fish farms and stilt houses on the mighty Mekong to Turtle Island, where we met a local farming family, sampled fresh fruits and coconut milk, and visited a family-run workshop which makes candy out of the Mekong's coconuts. Next, we hopped in a rowing sampan to explore the smaller canals and got to taste honey tea and listen to traditional folk songs. It really was a fantastic day!

Visit the Oriental Pearl TV Tower in Shanghai

This 468m-tall globe-on-a-tripod tower is the most iconic contemporary building in Shanghai. The highlight at this retro-futurist Deng Xiaoping–era building is the Transparent Observatory (259m), where you can peer way down through the glass-bottomed walkway. Take the lift to the sightseeing floor for 360-degree views of this Chinese gem.

The Langkawi cable car in Malaysia descends a lush green mountainside toward the coast and beaches beyond.

Ride the Langkawi Cable Car in Malaysia

You can't miss riding the bubble-shaped Langkawi Cable Car for the best views of the island. The cable car took us over 2 kilometres up the mountainside where we could see the stunning Seven Wells waterfalls, the blue ocean and the lush tropical forest, before touching down on the peak of Gunung Macincang. Don't forget to hit the amazing Black Sand Beach afterwards!

What to eat & drink in Asia

From sushi, satay and spring rolls to fried rice and pho, Asian food is truly iconic and we’ll show you all the best places to try your favourite dishes.

Spring Rolls (China)

If there’s one classic Chinese dish that can be enjoyed meal after meal, its spring rolls. These delicious dim sums are filled with meat and vegetables and fried until crispy and golden, and they’re loved all over the world. It’s impossible to stop at one!

Sushi (Japan)

There’s something extra special about eating sushi in its homeland. These mini rolls of sticky rice, fish, pickled ginger, wasabi and soy sauce are a huge part of Japanese culture and we’ll show you the ropes on all the different kinds of sushi and how to eat it.

Satay (Thailand)

Walk down almost any market street in Thailand and you’re sure to find a stall selling satay. These sizzling meat sticks are made with strips of meat like beef or chicken that are marinated in a special Thai paste, skewered and grilled to perfection. Dip it in the peanut sauce for the ultimate Thai snack.

Packing tips for Asia

Brown and black dachshund sitting in an old fashioned trunk case

Light, long clothes

Most of Asia serves up a sunny tropical climate, so wear light, full-length clothes to protect yourself from the sun and respectfully visit religious sites while staying comfortable.

Sun protection & mosquito repellent

Don’t forget to stock up on SPF 30 or higher reef-safe sunscreen and a strong insect repellent, plus a hat and UV-protected sunglasses for your Asia tour.

Swimsuit

Whether you want to snorkel off the stunning beaches of Vietnam or soak in the soothing onsens of Japan, come prepared for plenty of watery adventures when you visit Asia.

Pack for sustainable travel

Consider your environmental impact when you next take a trip and go single-use-plastic-free by packing a reusable water bottle, a steel straw, your own shopping bags and refillable toiletry bottles.

How to Travel Responsibly in Asia

Dress Modestly

Asia is a largely conservative continent and it's important to respect different cultures by covering your knees, shoulders and midriff, especially when visiting religious sites.

Ask Before You Snap

It’s easy to get snap-happy when travelling through Asia’s beautiful landscapes, but it’s important to always ask permission before taking photos of people.

Go Plastic-free

Waste disposal is a huge problem for many countries in Asia. You can help out by using refillable bottles and bags to help do your part in limiting plastic use.
