This itinerary was filled with cultural and natural experiences, that gives one a true feel of Peru. It showed the people’s pride of their country and heritage.
This trip was better than we expected. It was well organized and full of many local interesting things. Guides were knowledgeable and informative. Only downside was last day being left at airport not being able to check luggage until 3 hours before departure. But overall a wonderful experience.
We took a chance to travel in the rainy season with fewer people. It paid off for us fortunately. Great pictures with no strange tourists in them and no rain. No ongoing supply of bottled water but definitely shops readily available to pur hase some. Also take facecloths with you as none are provided. In Lima go to the local pharmacy and buy altitude sickness pills before flight to Cusco.
The holiday was organized well. There was a good variety of planned activities and a balance of free and scheduled time. Accommodations were very good and located well. The only thing to improve on is the time at the airport in Cusco. If checking in multiple people then do them in order as they are standing with their luggage. Also let travellers know you have already secured their boarding passes for the flights home. I went online to check in early and print off my boarding pass not knowing it was being done for me.
The Travel Director was very good and knowledgeable- no complains. However two hotels- La Casona de Yucay in the Sacred Valley and the San Agustin Plaza in Cusco were not satisfactory. 1. La Casona de Yucay- no ventillation in room 2. San Agustin Plaza- check out 8.30 am too early. Nowhere else in the world we have we experienced so early.
