Ayutthaya with Lunch Cruise
Depart the hotel early by coach and travel to Bang Pa In Summer Palace; a palace complex which was formerly used by the Thai kings. It is beautifully decorated in both traditional Chinese and European style and the buildings are laid out along an artificial ornamental pond. Continue to Ayutthaya, the ancient city which was the former Thai capital over 400 years ago. The ruins of the old city now form the Ayutthaya Historical Park, an archaeological site that contains palaces, Buddhist temples, monasteries and statues. Nowadays the glory and the beauty of the Grand Palace and temples of the past has vanished, leaving merely a glimpse of ruins, despite this it is a good reflection of the past. Visit different temples including Wat Maha That, Wat Na Phra Mane, and Wat Lokayasutharam. Later climb aboard your cruise back to Bangkok and enjoy the buffet lunch in comfortable surroundings out on the deck or in the air conditioned passenger room. Take in the views of the Chao Phraya River bank, catch a glimpse of local life and see the cheerful children waving as the boat sails past. As you sail back into Bangkok look out for the Royal Grand Palace and Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn), both iconic Bangkok sights and particularly magical when viewed from the river. The price shown is in Thai Bhat.

Jim Thompson House
Jim Thompson House is one of the best examples of traditional Thai residential architecture and houses a breath-taking collection of Southeast Asian art. Jim Thompson, born in Delaware in 1906, fell in love with Thailand while posted as an intelligence agent in Bangkok during WWII. He later made it his permanent home and started a business supplying fine Thai silk to overseas fashion houses, single-handedly saving what had been a dying cottage industry. His silk company continues to flourish today. With the proceeds of his success, Thompson collected an impressive range of art works, and sections of teak houses, assembling them into a museum complex set in a lush garden alongside central Bangkok’s Saen Saep Canal. The main house is full of tastefully displayed Asian art and curios including Buddha images, paintings, ceramics and antique furniture. The living areas have been preserved as they were when Thompson lived there before his mysterious disappearance. There is also a Thai restaurant and bar plus, a sizeable boutique selling quality silk items, books and prints.

Customer experience is the standard of service you receive
I loved this tour, but am surprised it was advertised as 1 tour when in fact it was 2 separate tours, and I had no indication of this until I met a tour director on day 1 in eastern Canada, who was only to be running the first half and had no idea about my western Canada plans. It is a little hard to review this tour as 1 booking because the 2 separate tours were vastly different. However I will say that we were offered some wonderful experiences (both included and optional), and I would recommend the Costsaver brand to anyone who is happy to just have accommodation and transport arranged, and you can sort out your own meals and get more free time in each place. From what I have been told it is not the same level of accommodation/inclusions as a higher-priced Trafalgar tour, but I wasn't expecting it to be. The only people who appeared to be disappointed with certain things were those who had been on Trafalgar branded tours before and didn't understand they were paying less on Costsaver for a reason. It was perfectly adequate for travellers who didn't expect to be "babied" across the country and spoon fed every meal. The tour directors and drivers were very professional and I would like to shout out to Virginia who ran our Western Canada tour, she was entertaining, informative, friendly, organised and a joy to travel alongside. We were also lucky to have a great group on both buses, good mix of ages etc. I would definitely use Costsaver again.
We felt that for what we did we received value for money 80% of the Hotels where A1, There were a few that need to be reviewed, re position, and age. Some hotels had far to many steps for the elderly. And not sure why we had 2 beds in our rooms, instead of 1, and some people had to sleep on a fold out bed. Maybe for an extra cost, a light breakfast could have been included. We loved all of the inclusions, and the extras provided. Both breakfasts were amazing, and the glacier walk, island cruise, Niagara Falls, Mountie Stables, local guides, Local guide in Montreal didnt take us to see Notre Dame Cathedral which was a disappointment. Absolutely loved the Quebec & the Rockies
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the trip, The inclusions were excellent on the west coast & also the extras. On the east coast, loved the inclusions, even though sometimes it was a rush, maybe at Niagara, it would be nice to go up to the lookout where the Horseshoe Falls come over, to see it from the top & we only did 2 of the extras, so that we could explore in Ottawa on our own & would have liked an extra night in Montreal, & been able to fly to Calgary from there,Both the local guides on the east coast where very informative, One suggestion would be that we should have been told it was also sold as 2 separate trips as well, as you just get to start relating to people, and then the first half of trip was over.
Lori *personal information removed by Feefo* our tour director was so organise and very experience, friendly to all of us. She is the best tour director that i ever meet.
The hotels very very good, the guides also, but specially Lisa, the guide during the west part. I had a problem during the tour that I´m still waiting for a compensation: The tour includes an internal flight between Toronto and Calgary. When I arrived to Toronto I had to wait 3:30hs for the guide to arrange the transfer for the next day, received all the new guests of the new tour, and then helped with the check in since the vouchers or final documents don´t have the information of the flight. No airline, flight number, or reservation code and certainly nothing about having to do the check in yourself. I lost the entire free afternoon in Toronto that of course I wanted to use to visit the city. The guide or someone of the agency is supposed to do all of this for the guests in some moment of the tour. It´s sold as one tour, buy it´s a combination of the east and west coast (no problem with that) but you´re completely on your own in the middle. The vouchers or final documents don´t say that you have to pay the luggage! It wasn´t a size problem, the flight doesn´t include the luggage, and that´s a huge thing to forget to mention to the passengers!!! After receiving the boarding pass I noticed that my middle name wasn´t there (I checked that twice with my agent) so my family had to call from Argentina to Destination America twice so they could assure me that I´ll be able to board the flight since no one was going to be at the airport during the check in to help me. As you can read there was a very important miscommunication from Cost Saver to the passengers that ended up with me losing an entire free afternoon in Toronto not being able to visit places, having to spend money that wasn´t expected and being nervous, sad and angry the rest of the day.
